World’s Security Leaders Convene in Halifax to Tackle Pressing Issues

Halifax International Security Forum to be streamed live:
Leaders will discuss the Arab Spring, global financial crisis, future of NATO and more

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, November 17, 2011—Leaders from more than 40 countries will gather this week at the Halifax International Security Forum to discuss what’s next in “Arab Spring” nations, implications of the global financial crisis, the future of NATO, and other top issues affecting international security today. Beginning Friday, November 18, Halifax will welcome Canadian National Defence Minister Peter MacKay, U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, Israeli Defense Minster Ehud Barak, former German Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, a congressional delegation led by Senator John McCain and Senator Mark Udall, and 300 other leaders from around the world to assess events in 2011 and look ahead to 2012.

The last significant security conference of the year, attendees include informed leaders from the military, civilian government, business and academia from around the world. The Forum runs from Friday, November 18 through Sunday, November 20 at the Westin Nova Scotian.
