Senator Tim Kaine to Receive Builder Award from Halifax International Security Forum

HALIFAX, NS – Halifax International Security Forum announced today that Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) will receive its prestigious Builder Award during the gala dinner at Pier 21 on Friday, November 19th.

“The Builder Award recognizes individuals who have been instrumental to the success of the Forum and are tireless advocates for global security,” said Peter Van Praagh, President of the Halifax International Security Forum. “Senator Tim Kaine’s commitment to democratic values with regard to foreign and defense policy, humanitarian issues and the environment is an inspiration.”

Senator Kaine co-chaired the Congressional Delegation from 2013 to 2015 and during that time, he brought a record number of colleagues – both Democrat and Republican – with him to Halifax,” added Van Praagh.

Established in 2012, the Builder Award is bestowed upon individuals or groups that have made a special contribution to ensuring that the Halifax International Security Forum continues to further its mission of advancing strategic cooperation among democracies.

2014 – Mr. Bill McCaffrey, President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of MEG Energy Corporation and Chairman, Halifax Canada Club

2013 – Senators John McCain and Mark Udall, United States Senators, and Co-Chairs, US Congressional Delegation

2012 – General Walter Natynczyk, Chief of the Defence Staff of Canada
