Washington, DC – The Halifax International Security Forum welcomes the cabinet of Canada’s new government, which was sworn in today by Governor General David Johnston.

“We applaud Prime Minister Trudeau for appointing such a strong and diverse team of leaders to cabinet,” said Peter Van Praagh, President of Halifax International Security Forum. “And we congratulate all of the women and men who have been appointed Ministers of the Crown and look forward to welcoming leaders of the new government to Halifax later this month.”

The 2015 Forum will be held November 20-22 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Now in its seventh year, the Forum is recognized as the world’s most significant gathering of democratic defence leaders committed to global security and prosperity.

“Halifax International Security Forum cannot happen without the support of many government departments and agencies,” said Van Praagh. “I would like to thank the outgoing government of Canada for its strong support and look forward to working with our new partners, Minister of National Defence Harjit Sajjan and Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Navdeep Bains, as well as our strong private sector partners from the Halifax Canada Club.”

“Halifax International Security Forum looks forward to providing an international platform for Canada’s new government when it welcomes participants from over 60 countries to Canada later this month,” concluded Van Praagh.
