Halifax International Security Forum Prepares to Welcome Three-Hundred Participants from Sixty Countries
November 14, 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

14 NOVEMBER 2014

WASHINGTON, DC — The largest US congressional delegation to set foot in Canada, led by Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Tim Kaine (D-VA), and international security leaders from the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East will be hosted by Rob Nicholson, Canada’s Minister of National Defence, and Peter MacKay, Minister of Justice and Regional Minister for Nova Scotia, at the 6th annual Halifax International Security Forum.

The three-day event begins on November 21st against the backdrop of many serious global security issues and will again bring together individuals who are on the ground facing consequential local threats, writers who challenge and influence the world’s thinking on security and decision-makers who make the tough choices.

“Halifax is where security experts come together to assess the challenges of the past year, where democratic leaders build strategic cooperation and where the international affairs community sets the agenda for the next year,” said Peter Van Praagh, President of the Halifax International Security Forum. “The participants who join together at Halifax know that the Forum’s unique, unscripted format creates the conditions for more informed decisions on the issues that matter.”

The community that convenes at Halifax each November is limited to 300 people, yet represents leaders from more than 60 countries. Canada’s military leadership, and senior American officers are joining the 2014 Halifax conversation.
