Halifax International Security Forum Announces Dates of the 2018 Forum
January 12, 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

12 January 2018

WASHINGTON, DC – Halifax International Security Forum announced today that the 10th annual Halifax International Security Forum will take place on November 16-18, 2018 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

“The 2018 Forum takes place 100 years after the end of World War I,” said Peter Van Praagh, President of Halifax International Security Forum. “In this centennial year, the Forum will take stock of history’s lessons and address today’s real security threats.”

The 2018 Halifax International Security Forum will also announce the first recipient of the John McCain Prize for Courage in Public Service. “Senator John McCain has been a steadfast supporter of the Forum since it began in 2009,” Van Praagh said, “and Halifax International Security Forum is proud to play any role that might encourage strong leadership inspired by Senator McCain’s distinguished career.”

Hosted by Canada’s Minister of National Defence, and featuring defense ministers from across the democratic world and a bipartisan Congressional Delegation from the United States, the Forum brings together individuals who are on the ground facing consequential local threats, writers who challenge and influence the world’s thinking on security, and democratic decision-makers from over 90 countries.

Halifax International Security Forum is an independent, non-profit, non-partisan organization based in Washington, DC. The Forum is made possible by the generous support of its partners, including the Government of Canada and the Halifax Canada Club.

The 9th Halifax International Security Forum took place November 17-19, 2017. For a recap of the 2017 Forum, please click here.
