Halifax International Security Forum Announces Call for Applications for the 2019 Halifax Peace With Women Fellowship
January 15, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 15, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC – Halifax International Security Forum is proud to announce the opening of the Call for Applications for the 2019 Halifax Peace With Women Fellowship.

The Fellowship is a 3-week executive tour for senior active-duty female military officers that will take place in late October and November of 2019. Fellows will visit the political capitals and technological hubs of Canada and the United States to meet with government, military, technology, and civil society leaders across North America, and engage with them on a wide-range of cutting-edge topics.

“The inaugural year of the Peace With Women Fellowship clearly demonstrated the desire for military leaders to develop their knowledge and networks to become greater assets to their armed forces,” said Peter Van Praagh, President of Halifax International Security Forum. “The participation of NATO member and partner countries provides a strategic advantage for the continued advancement of their military leadership.”

In 2018 seven women ranked colonel and above from Albania, Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Norway, and the United States came together for the inaugural program. Over the course of three weeks, they experienced more than 50 engagements with organizations and leaders from military, government, technology, media, academia, and civil society.

The inaugural 2018 Peace With Women Fellowship culminated at the Halifax International Security Forum where participants interacted with some of the most high profile speakers, including General Joseph Dunford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, a number of United States Senators who were part of the congressional delegation, and Minister Harjit Sajjan, Canada’s Minster of National Defence.
