Halifax International Security Forum and the Wilson Center Announce Joint US-Canada Initiative
November 19, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
19 November 2017

Halifax, Nova Scotia — Halifax International Security Forum and the Wilson Center Canada Institute are pleased to announce that they will jointly host the Halifax Chats in Washington D.C. in 2018.

The Halifax Chats are a series of four in depth public conversations that will bring American and Canadian leaders together to explore common solutions to global problems.

The first Chat will held in February 2018, followed by subsequent events in March, April, and May 2018. The Chats will use an open conversational style to engage senior political, military and thought leaders from both countries.

“I go to the Halifax Forum every year to dive deeper into the biggest security challenges facing the world.   The conversations with key leaders there are stimulating and thought-provoking and do much to advance the policy agenda. I’m thrilled that the Wilson Center’s best-in-class Canada Institute will now partner with the Forum to extend these conversations all year long in Washington.” said Jane Harman, Director, President and CEO of the Wilson Center.

“We are thrilled to cooperate with Jane Harman and the Wilson Center on this important initiative and are confident that it will add a new dimension to the US-Canada relationship,” said Peter Van Praagh, President of Halifax International Security Forum.
