HFX ANNOUNCES 2021 CLASS OF PEACE WITH WOMEN FELLOWSHIP
July 27, 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, DC–HFX today announced the 2021 class of its landmark Peace With Women Fellowship. The program, now in its fourth year, experienced the most competitive selection process to date with a record number of countries submitting applications.

Accomplishments of the 2021 class include:

The first woman to reach the Admiral ranks in the British Royal Navy

The first woman to become a Company Commander in her country

An Air Battle Director for U.S. and coalition forces in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan

“The 2021 Class is composed of 14 women from 13 NATO member and partner countries, the most diverse to date,” said Peter Van Praagh, President of HFX.

“This year the Peace With Women Fellowship welcomes four new nations and again includes all of the Five Eyes – the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand – a testament to the critical need for such a program,” he added.

The Fellowship is a three-week executive program for senior active-duty female military officers from NATO member and partner countries. It begins October 26 and concludes at the 2021 Halifax International Security Forum from November 19-21. Participants will visit Washington DC, Silicon Valley, Toronto and Ottawa.

Fellows will meet with government officials, military leaders, and experts from a variety of fields as they travel through the political and technological capitals of the United States and Canada. The program is designed to deepen their understanding of NATO’s strategic challenges, as well as the cutting-edge technologies transforming the realities of national security. At the Halifax Forum, they will join the Fellowship’s alumnae, further expanding the network of leaders through this program.
